Central Park Praha was designed by A69 Architects, who won a competition of renowned international studios. The project is characterized by ecological friendliness, consideration for its surroundings, and high quality interiors and exteriors.
"A69 is one of our most interesting architectural firms today," says Dan Merta, Director of Jaroslav Fragner Gallery. "Their designs are about the highest quality that you can find in the Czech Republic."
Central Park Praha Project
In architecture, just like in other fields, some thoughts come unwittingly and others have a long and complicated birth. Central Park Praha offers examples of both extremes. In 2003 we first walked up Parukářka to look at the site of the future condominiums and we soon agreed on a sketch back at the atelier that has remained with the project ever since.
We prolonged the green slopes of Parukářka and twisted them in the other direction, thereby creating the green valley of the future Central Park . The valley was not so solid and compact yet in the tender proposal, but during the course of the further variants and searches this idea managed to assert itself and make itself more and more conspicuous. Today Central Park is truly delimited by a hillside building on three of the sides. The artificial valley opens to the western horizon of Prague . It is one of the most characteristic moments of the design and it is almost astonishing that this new element was so positively accepted by all of the participants, from the investor through the officials to the public, during the course of the designing.
The architectural concept tries to offer the vision of living overcoming current stereotypes, offering a qualitative shift in the standard of living and an appreciation of the superb quality of the location. It is good to preserve the expanse of the green spaces, making it the strong point of the design – housing oriented towards an expansive park with the natural dominant feature of the green ridge of Parukářka.
From the History of A69 Architects
